THE WONDERFUL WORLD OF WORDS
Sunday!
Sunday! Sunday!!! Wow! do I ever remember those radio programs
for the weekend Drag Racing Shows! Some shows featuring up to 64
Funny Cars and Top Fuel Dragsters. It was some of the best
times in my Life. We all create images in our minds whether
good or bad by the words we hear or speak. To me, the very
words Funny Cars brings an excitement and fluttering & pounding
of my heart, almost like when I saw my wife for the 1st time,
but if someone asked me what I was interested in and they had no
knowledge of drag racing, they would probably think I was a
clown & worked for the circus. If I said I Love Funny Cars. It
is amazing to me how many lies we were all told growing up like
- “Stick & Stones will break your bones but words will never
hurt you.” That is about one of the most stupid sayings that
someone came up with, unfortunately a lot of us (including
myself) believed that. The Bible explains why wrong thinking and
doing makes a way into this World, 2 Corinthians 4:4 says that:
That the god of this world blinds the hearts and minds of the
people so that they can not see the truth, unless the light of
the Gospel comes in. God spoke this World into existence! Words
have Power! A Nitro Funny Car is not a Vespa & a Vespa is not a
Pizza we all answer to our personal names not someone else’s.
Lets all make the choice today to speak both kind and
encouraging words to one another, so that our minds are not
dumping grounds of thoughts that try to defeat our purpose & the
enjoyment of Family & Friends and of course Racing!

So there I was. It was a beautiful day…(by the way, if you want to, you can
put yourself in this position too). I’m driving down the freeway visualizing
the back of two Funny Cars launching off the line…giant slicks wrinkling,
parachute bridal lines dangling and header flames throwing flames 10 feet into
the air! Then, out of nowhere a little car flies right in front of me and hits
their brakes! All of a sudden my head feels like it is going to hydraulic… and
I need a rev limited on my mouth! Then I thought, ok is this a test to see if
the performance level of my attitude can match my actions? And the bible does
say, "For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks" (Matthew
12:34)
So my next thought was, HELP! Then I said to myself, you know the Bible does
say that there are angels on assignment from God. Maybe that little annoying car
is driven by an angel to keep me from an accident and by doing that it is
changing the time sequence of my life to match where God wants me to be in His
will. Because I can sure get off to my own ways and my own set of rules and be
in such a hurry that I walk or drive right into an accident or be an accident
waiting to happen. Then I probably would try to blame God for it and say
something like Why me? When all along it was me! Well, since there will most
likely be those kinds of times when we all are tempted to be overcome with anger
and fear of the unknown, we do have a solution and that is the Word of God…the
Bible.

It sure has brought a wealth of understanding and wisdom and peace in my life
and it sure has helped my driving in traffic. So, if anyone is looking for a
jolt of answers you can’t seem to find, just dust off that old Bible that you’ve
left on the shelf for so long and start reading about God’s love letters to
us. It talks to each one of use personally so that we can run the race that is
set before us (Hebrews 12:1)
